The Houston R-I School District is now accepting applications for a certified teacher for the 2026-2027 school year.  Candidates must hold Missouri Early Childhood Special Education certification.  This teaching position is for an integrated classroom.  

 

An individual who holds this position is required to:

• Embrace and work continually in support of the district mission of “Expecting for Excellence…Learning for All.”
• Provide instruction to students
• Create and implement a classroom disciplinary plan
• Create lesson plans and activities to implement and supplement instruction
• Participate in building, grade level and subject area committees
• Actively participate and function well in a highly collaborative environment
• Adhere to district curriculum and state standards
• Implement effective formative and summative assessment practices Participate in professional development activities
• Prepare for and participate in scheduled events including orientations, parent-teacher conferences and open houses
• Maintain accurate student records including attendance, grades and discipline
• Complete and submit forms and required reports in a timely manner
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and other educational concerns
• Case manage students with IEP's
• Write IEP's and conduct IEP meetings 
•  Implement special educational plans such as 504 plans, individual educational programs and individual health plans
• Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination and harassments as directed by Board policy
• Prepare lesson plans for use by a substitute teacher
• Subject area teachers may have additional duties and responsibilities
