The Exceptional Child Cooperative is seeking applicants for a possible one-on-one ECSE paraprofessional to serve the Licking district.
Candidates must have a minimum of:
- Hold a DESE issued Substitute Teaching Certificate with 60 college hours or pass ParaPro assessment or a valid Teaching Certificate for any subject.
- A demonstrated ability to work effectively under the direction of others.
- A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others.
- Ability to organize, be flexible and motivate others.
- Be capable of physically assisting student with special needs as required (positioning, lifting, transferring, physical intervention)
- Willingness to assume any responsibilities, which are appropriate for the position.
JOB GOAL: To serve as support staff when required to implement special education or related services and/or to provide direct assistance to students with disabilities.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must work under the direct supervision of a Special Education teacher when providing instructional services in high needs designated programs (Functional Skills, SCOPE, opportunities with students having multiple disabilities, social, emotional or behavioral needs).
- Assist students to complete instructional activities.
- Assist in the supervision of students as required to meet individual needs and implement IEP goals and/or objectives as directed.
- Provide physical assistance based on student need such as: lifting, transferring, moving from class to class, feeding, toileting, physical intervention.
- Participate in training activities as required by the District.
- Additional duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to stand, walk, stoop, provide for toileting and specific hygiene needs, transfer, feed, provide for specific physical intervention when required. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is an at-will position that may be terminated by either the school district or the employee with a two week notice. Salary is dependent on experience and the paraprofessional salary schedule.
